Don't do that if you have Exchange server or a Forest trust with another domain. I didn't try it after reading forums about domain rename with an exchange server, it's better to just create a new domain and transfer using ADMT.
For the computers that need to recognize the new domain do they need any kind of special servicing or will they register that the domain name has changed when they check in and just require the 2 restarts?
